In this picture, I am doing some sanding to prep the guitars body to be painted, so it looks smooth and doesn't have many visible mistakes
This is ONE way to glue the neck on a guitar, but its not exactly the recommended way... It's amazing what ideas people come up with on a short notice
This is about midway through the guitar build, drilling holes for the two-part bridge to be driven into. Note that the wood is discolored, that was a failed attempt to stain it green.
The classic open book style headstock, but custom made.
First coat of black metal flake paint, I also learned that not completely covering the binding makes for fun times cleaning it up later on...
This is the finished product for the paint and stain, now onto the elecronics
Most people when building their own guitar insulate the cavities for the electronics with either copper or aluminum tape, to reduce interference from and kind of signal. Radio-waves, passing airplanes... Yes people, this actually can have an affect on the sound quality
Soldering all the electronics in for the volume and tone potentiometers, also the three way toggle switch and the humbuckers
Finished product, painted and stained up, all electronics in, and ready to play!
Fabulous, Michael! An octave mandolin next? Great idea. I have one and it's a blast to play. In fact, I think that's what I'll go do right now...
